BACA Fort Worth – Referrals
Common Referring Agencies/Persons
We accept referrals from many different sources, including, but not limited to:
Community Advocacy Centers (CACs)
Department of Family Protective Services (DFPS) – Please see the Memorandum of Understanding between BACA Texas and DFPS.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs)
Hospitals – Doctors/ Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners
District Attorneys/Law Enforcement
Referral Criteria/Initial Intake
We accept child referrals for the following reasons/criteria, although, if in doubt, please contact our child liaisons of Tarrant/Johnson Counties or Denton County so we many discuss any possible referral.
This list is not exhaustive:
Child is frightened by his or her environment due to abuse.
Child should be of a cognitive age to understand and participate in BACA activities.
Child may have to testify in court.
Child may be living in foster or group home care.
Perpetrator is not living in the home.
Child Liaison verifies that the abuse was reported.
Child Liaison meets with the family to describe BACA.
Family/Child accepts services and an “initial ride” or Level 1 Intervention is scheduled.
